A CTOTF Fact:

100% of the CTOTF Forum Meeting attendees represent combustion turbine users!

It has been this way for 35 years.

Our meetings (forums) are held twice per year -- in the spring and in the fall.  Most forums have a member company who volunteers to act as "host."  The host provides a welcome speaker and local assistance.  A host may provide a plant tour or other outside activity.  (See "Hosting a Meeting" on this website).  However, all meeting and convention planning is handled by the Group Coordinator.

The meeting format consists of an opening general session on the morning of the first day that includes a welcome from the host company, discussions of a general nature such as upcoming meeting locations, and technical presentations on the operation and maintenance of combustion turbines and related equipment.  The rest of the meeting is usually spent in open forum discussions, known as “roundtables.” Each roundtable session is based upon an engine or manufacturer and discussions are moderated by a session Chairman.  The real benefit of participation in the CTOTF is the exchange of information in the roundtable discussions, where members share their knowledge and experience.  The Task Force holds Vendor Trade Shows in the Spring and Fall showcasing related equipment and services available. Not all Vendors are the same at each show.

Beginning in 2004, the CTOTF met totally separate from any fee-based turbine organization to eliminate any confusion about our independence as a user-driven CT user’s group.  The format of our Roundtables is constantly being updated, although, as before, they will still be open to CT users (owner/operators) only.  However, we will be soliciting for more relevant technical information to provide our members during the forums.

The current Roundtables are named:

  •  Industry Issues,

  •  Generator,

  •  HV Electrical Equipment,

  •  Environmental Systems,

  •  Combined Cycle,

  •  O&M and Business Practices

  •  Alstom,

  •  GE (Large Frame),

  •  GE Aero (LM Series),

  •  Mitsubishi,

  •  Pratt & Whitney (FT8 & FT4),

  •  Siemens (originally "Westinghouse"),

  •  251 Users Group,

Traditionally, General Electric representatives address questions at the Spring GE Roundtable and Siemens representatives address questions at the Fall Siemens Roundtable.
